If you believe your elderly loved one has suffered abuse or neglect at a care facility, it is important that you document it. If possible, you should photograph any evidence of physical abuse or neglect such as bruising, fractures, pressure sores, use of restraints or poor hygiene.
Further, you should obtain any pertinent medical records (or forensic records, if applicable) identifying an injury or other medical condition such as malnutrition, dehydration or infection.
